2009 NEWVA Senior Classic
November 9, 2009 -- The New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) would like to recognize and congratulate the following athletes as invitees to the NEWVA Senior Classic. Activities will be held at UMass - Boston in the Clark Athletic Center on Sunday, November 15, 2009. There will be a skills event in the morning (10:30 AM) for the Senior Classic attendees followed by the game starting at approximately 1:00 PM, after the NEWVA Coaches meeting. The Senior Classic will be coached by the NEWVA Coach of the Year and Runner Up (to be announced later this week). Participants are encouraged to wear a school t-shirt or jersey to aid spectators in recognizing the participants.
Players were selected by a vote of all participating member head coaches following the nomination process. The invitees represent 21 institutions from NCAA Division III volleyball programs in New England and six different conferences. The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) leads the way with 14 student athletes followed by the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) and Little East with six apiece, the Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) has four, the University Athletic Association (UAA) has two, and the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) has one. Fourteen additional institutions are represented with Honorable Mention selections (see below).
